Debut is a fusion of storytelling, story making, play, coaching, and community. Three professional storytellers will tell a story that they are debuting. This month, the talented storytellers are Jamie Campbell, Carolina Quiroga-Stultz, and Padraic Koehane.   The story they tell has never been told in public.

We believe that the first telling can be a wonderful shared experience. The motto is "There is beauty in the beginning." This is the beginning of each tellers’ stories. However, it is told with the skill of a professional storyteller so it bound to be inviting.

Then, Story Coach (Mediator) Dr. Kevin Cordi, author of Playing with Stories: Story Crafting for Writers, Teachers, and Other Imaginative Thinkers will lead these storytellers as they play with this new story.  Kevin will use proven playful practices and audience members will experience new ways they could work with their own stories.

A little bit about the tellers:

Jamie Campbell

Jamie is currently based out of the Midwest, Jamie Campbell tours the United States as a stand-up comedian, improviser and storyteller. A veteran of over 30 comedy and Fringe festivals, his performances have garnered multiple awards, including "Best of Fringe" in Kansas City and Tucson, "Best Stand-up or Variety Performance" by San Antonio's Bexar Stage, and Chicago's "Best Stand-Up Comedian" by The Chicago Reader.  His album, Tell Me You’re Proud of  Me, debuted at #1 on Amazon’s comedy charts.  He is a member of the professional roster of The KC Improv Company and the creator of the experimental stand-up show Set Swap.

He has shared the stage or worked on projects with countless legendary names in comedy and entertainment, including Damon Wayans, Hannibal Buress, Cameron Esposito, Oscar Isaac, Chris Redd, Scott Adsit, Ty Burrell, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Alicia Keys, Tech N9ne, and Dana Carvey.

Carolina

Carolina is a Bilingual Storyteller Performer, Podcaster, and author, who graduated in 2013 with a Masters in Storytelling from the East Tennessee State University.

Her vast repertoire of bilingual stories explores Latin America’s myths, legends, folktales, and literature.

She has performed at several festivals and conferences in Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Utah, Colorado, and Kansas City. Also, she has told stories at numerous schools, libraries, universities, and colleges to culturally and socially diverse audiences.

In 2020, Carolina's bilingual literary podcast "Tres Cuentos Literary Podcast" dedicated to Latin America’s literatures, was selected by the PRX and Google Podcast Creator Program to undergo a 9-week training and in 2019 the program was awarded a grant by Alternate Roots and another one by The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures. Listen to the podcast here: www.trescuentos.com.

In September 2019, Carolina published her first book on Aztec myths, "The Hungry Goddess and The Five Suns." A month later, she was a featured teller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

We will then ask all the tellers to come together to talk about the process. The attendees are also encouraged to provide feedback for the tellers.

Padraic Keohane, storyteller, author, and teacher, has been sharing stories for nigh on 50 years, if you count all the lies he told as a baby.  And if his rap sheet is any indication of the future, he will be sharing stories for 5 to 20 more years at least. He has spun fairy tales, folk tales, and his own original stories across the southwestern United States, as well as internationally. Padraic served as a board member of the Storytellers of New Mexico and the Los Angeles Storytelling Festival. He is currently working on the sequel to his popular young adult novel, “Half-Animal, Wild Child.” You may find all his books, including the humorous “A Hell of a Christmas” and his collection of wisdom tales, “Stories of Sagacity and Wit” on Amazon.

The event is a fusion of storytelling and play. The attendees will have the honor of being the first audience of these tales. Proceeds from this event helps the event and the tellers.

We hope people can join us for the novel event of performance and play. Ticket holders will be sent an email 3 hours prior to the event with login information.
